Yesterday was the introduction session for the Computational Sensing Hackathon which we host together with Microsoft at the Medical Valley Center here in Erlangen. The introductory talks were a blast. Experts from Microsoft and Metrilus presented the technologies Kinect v2, Unity, Cortana, Project Oxford, Microsoft Band, and IoT. Read more about the first day in Kristina’s (germean) post on 2pStart.de.

Pre-Hackathon Party

Pre-Hackathon Party

Talking to people at the party afterwards was even better. So many great ideas! I’m really excited to see them become real in the next 24 hours. The Microsoft Band seems to rival with Kinect v2 about the most popular technology, but there were also some projects ideas involving IoT 2 or Cortana.

I myself had about three smaller ideas with IoT or Kinect 2. Then came the night and instead of resting asleep woke up at 4, my head spinning and generating two new ideas using Azure ML services. Now I’m tired and got 24 hours of hacking to come. Anyways, I will probably be spending a good part of the time supporting other people with Kinect 2, Aiolos or .Net in general.

To be prepared for everything I brought a sleeping map and a soldering station 🙂
